The Bozeman Daily Chronicle has a short story about Sam Maloof, the octogenarian who’s inspired thousands of amateur woodworkers (including me). According to the article, backorders for Sam’s work stretch 22 years into the future. (That’s got to be a typo; I’ve read elsewhere that it’s 5 to 6 years.) Still, it’s a testament to his craftsmanship that interest in Sam’s work continues to increase. In fact, the Smithsonian had a restrospective of his work in September 2001 that Ruthie and I had planned to attend; 9/11 changed all that. You can see more of Sam’s work online at the Oceanside Museum of Art. (Hope this link still works–the site has been up for a while.)

I just found your weblog today.
Nice to see another woodworker who has been influenced by Maloof.
